Online Casinos Look To 2010 For US Regulations

The year 2009 saw Representative Barney Frank leaving no stone unturned to try and overturn the UIGEA and bring about the legalization of online casino gambling in the US. With the dawn of the New Year, the Americans are anxiously waiting for the final regulations to fall into place by fall this year. However, the online casino industry has been in a way hit by the new administration in the US in 2009, and this is not what the citizens foresaw when President Obama took over office.

The Obama administration has done nothing different to the existing laws but has continued to take hold of bank accounts related to online casino gambling payments, the future however of the gaming industry still looks bright and promising. While the Obama administration just continued to carry out what was handed over to them from predecessors, they have infact taken steps towards internet gambling regulations.

Representative Barney Frank and his dedicated team are still working at it and have proposed two pieces of legislation to the congress, one being the elimination of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and the second one is to lay the foundation towards regulations in the country. Barney Frank has managed to draw a huge number of 60 co-sponsors to support him in this venture, and is optimistic that the bill will be passed by congress in due course.

All the hard word and concerted efforts of the Massachusetts representative, Barney Frank is due to pay off in 2010, when the citizens can say goodbye to outdated laws and welcome a regulated and legalized system. In the meanwhile the drive is still on and more and more supporters are joining hands with Barney Frank, as he strives towards making the US a free online gaming country.
