    Online Gambling Addressed

    European Gaming and Betting Association and the Parliament organized a debate, which saw that gathering of top European politicians and gambling industry experts, who expressed their views on regulating online gambling all over Europe.

    John Penrose the UK tourism and heritage minister who is also responsible for the British gambling portfolio expressed that each member states individual rights on regulating online gambling at the nation level should be respected by the EU. He also added that in the UK light touch regulations are followed while member states like Poland and Portugal have conservative views about casino gambling which leads to stricter laws regarding gambling. He also spoke about how the religious background of a nation has a lot to do with the way gambling is viewed.

    Protection of customer in online gambling was also an issue that Penrose brought to the table during the debate. He was also keen on voicing out his opinion on how unnecessary bureaucracy when it comes to regulating online gambling.

    The event was part of the European Parliament’s “Responsible Gaming Day” activities and a report of the internet gambling composed by a German deputy Jurgen Creutzmann was one of the crucial events of the debate.
